Juvederm Wrinkle Filler Injections

Juvederm is an injectable hyaluronic acid (HA) filler which was created by the company famous for Botox. Juvederm aims to soften fine lines and wrinkles. It may be injected into many different problem areas in different parts of the body.

Juvederm is the only HA filler whose effects are approved by the FDA to last as long as one year after treatment. It was proven to be safe and effective with all skin types. There is no increased risk of hyperpigmentation or hypertrophic scarring in patients of color.

The slogan for Juvederm is:

"Parentheses have a place, but not on your face."

The parentheses refers to the deepening with age of the groove from the bottom of your nose to the corners of your mouth (the nasolabial fold). As we age, the skin changes as a result of loss of a naturally-occurring, hydrating substance called HA. Over time, the loss of HA results in deepening of facial wrinkles and of the nasolabial folds. Juvederm gel replaces the HA your skin has lost, restoring its original volume, and smoothing away facial wrinkles and folds.

Unlike other HA fillers which have a granular consistency, Juvederm is the first smooth-consistency HA gel. Because of this, Juvederm goes in smoothly, and assumes a natural and soft appearance which is superior to that of other HA fillers. In fact, when Juvederm was tested in a clinical setting among people who did not know which filler they were receiving, almost 9 out of 10 people preferred Juvederm to other brands.

How does Juvederm differ from Botox?

While both Juvederm and Botox are injected by a doctor in very short office visits, Juvederm uses HA facial wrinkles such as the parentheses of the nasolabial folds. Botox, on the other hand, is commonly used to selectively relax the facial muscles responsible for the eleven (the two deep and parallel wrinkles) between the eyebrows, and on the forehead, and under and around the eyes.

Patients often choose to combine Botox and Juvederm in the same short treatment session. The benefits of each complement each other. Both can easily be accomplished during the lunch time, and patients can usually return directly to work.

Juvederm produces a smooth, natural look and feel—so everyone will notice (but no one will know)! In fact, studies show superior results of Juvederm compared to comparable fillers.

Juvederm is approved for the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. It is the only FDA approved HA filler whose effects have been demonstrated to last as long as one year and to be safe and effective for persons of color.

Juvederm is the next generation of dermal filler. The result is a smooth, natural look and feel.
