The Obagi Blue Peel represents a breakthrough
and significant improvement in the skin rejuvenation that
"Promotes Skin Health and Restores Beauty". The Obagi Blue Peel
can restore a tighter, smoother and younger-looking skin
regardless of age, color or skin type, not only to the facial
area but to non-facial areas.
The Obagi Blue Peel will have the greatest
benefit on those who have blemish-prone skin, wrinkles,
pigmentation problems, sun damage or general poor skin quality.
Layers of dead skin cells exfoliate and are replaced by
healthier ones allowing the skin's own clarity and tightness to
resurface.
INTRODUCING BLUE PEEL...
A chemically superior peel that achieves
optimum skin resurfacing alone or in conjunction with CO2 laser
or dermabrasion. The good news is that using Blue Peel in
conjunction with CO2 laser can help you make every laser
treatment as perfect as possible.
Formulated by internationally renowned
dermatologist and chemical peel expert Dr. Zein Obagi, Blue Peel
safely and effectively expands your powers of skin rejuvenation.
A well-tolerated procedure, Blue Peel rarely
produces erythema or inflammation. Patients can thus resume
their normal lives more quickly after Blue Peel than after CO2
lasers or dermabrasion. Blue Peel healing is relatively painless
and occurs within seven to ten days.
Blue Peel Is More Comfortable Than Other
Skin Resurfacing Procedures
Skin that's been Blue Peeled
heals faster than skin that's experienced
other procedures. For example, after lasers
or dermabrasion, skin can take two weeks or
more to heal and may stay red for three to
six months. After Blue Peel, there is light
peeling as after a sunburn. After Blue Peel,
skin may exhibit a slight blue tint or
redness which fades within seven to ten
days.
In a series of 100 patients who underwent
one to four Blue Peels, no serious
complications were observed. Scars and
permanent skin color changes were not
observed in any patients.
How does an Obagi Blue
Peel work?
The Obagi BLUE PEEL is a one to four step
application of blue solution mixed with TCA
(Trichloracetic Acid). These applications
will lead to the removal of thin surface
layers of aged and damaged skin. Layers of
dead skin cells exfoliate and are replaced
by healthier ones allowing the skin's own
clarity and tightness to resurface.
Who should consider an Obagi Blue Peel?
Anyone who wants to look better and reverse
the appearance of the aging process. Those
who have blemish-prone skin, wrinkles,
pigmentation problems, sun damage, or
general poor skin quality will benefit the
most.
What conditions can an OBAGI Blue Peel
treat?
An OBAGI Blue Peel can effectively improve a
wide variety of skin conditions including
fine lines and wrinkles, uneven
pigmentation, shallow acne scars,
sun-damaged skin and freckling.
An OBAGI Blue Peel is not a substitute for a
facelift. It cannot eliminate excessive or
lax skin. But, in many cases your physician
may suggest that an OBAGI Blue Peel be
performed in conjunction with other cosmetic
procedures.
What is a Blue Peel treatment like?
OBAGI Blue Peel take 25 to 30 minutes and are
performed on an out-patient basis in your physician's office,
usually without sedation. If your physician indicates sedation,
you will need someone to drive you home. Depending on your skin
type and the desired results, you will probably require from 1
to 4 coats of OBAGI Blue Peel solution applied to various areas
of skin. Once applied, the OBAGI Blue Peel produces a separation
and peeling of the outer layers of the skin.
Most patients experience a warm to hot
sensation, which may last as long as 2 to 3 minutes, followed by
a stinging sensation.

How is the Blue Peel different from the
alpha hydroxy products used by doctors and
aestheticians today?
The Blue Peel uses slow-acting TCA, instead
of glycolic acid. This enables the physician
to control the peel process and its depth.
The process is tailored to the nature of the
problem to be corrected: wrinkles, scars,
laxity or pigmentation problems.
Will the Obagi Blue Peel
procedure damage my skin?

No. Peeling the skin lightly in a controlled
manner will not cause any damage to the
skin. There are no internal toxic effects (TCA
is not absorbed through the skin).
How many Blue Peels can be done?
Your doctor will determine how many peels
are necessary to achieve the desired result.
In most cases the procedures take 25 to 30
minutes.
What can I expect?
Depending upon the condition of your skin,
one to four coats of the Obagi Blue Peel
solution will be applied. Most people will
not require sedation. If the Physician
indicates sedation, you will need someone to
drive you home. With the application of each
coat, you will experience a mild burning
sensation that lasts two to three minutes.
The Physician may use an electric fan to
minimize this sensation. A light bluish tint
remains on your skin, but it will wash off
in 12 to 24 hours. Your skin will begin to
peel within two to three days and should be
healed in seven to ten days. This peeling
should not disrupt your regular lifestyle.
Can the Obagi Blue Peel procedure be used
to treat other parts of the body?
Yes. The Obagi Blue Peel can be performed on
the neck, chest, hands, back, arms and legs
using the same technique as for the face.
Can I do the Obagi Blue Peel procedure
myself?
No, it is a medical procedure and must be
performed by a Physician or a properly
trained specialist working under a
Physician's supervision.
How often should the Obagi Blue Peel
procedure be performed?
Obagi Blue Peel treatments can be performed
at four-week intervals until the desired
correction is achieved. Annual Blue Peels
assist in the long-term maintenance of skin
health and fitness. Deep scars and
hyperpigmentation may need deeper peels or
other treatment procedures.
Can I apply makeup after
an Obagi Blue Peel?
Generally, makeup is not recommended for the
first seven to ten days or until the skin
has completely peeled.
What type of products should I use on my
skin?
Obagi NU-DERM Products which promote skin
health through correction and stimulation
are recommended with Obagi BLUE PEEL. Ask
your doctor or skin health specialist for
more information on Obagi NU-DERM.
Your skin protects you from the environment
and regulates your body temperature.
Skin is made up of millions of cells. It is
the largest organ in your body.
Each day, thousands of these cells die, fall
off, and are replaced by new cells from
beneath the skin. As you age, this process
begins to slow down. Dark blotches, signs of
aging and sun damage begin to appear. Your
skin may become dull and develop fine lines
and small wrinkles.
A medium depth peel
The OBAGI Blue Peel® is a new innovation for
restoring healthier and more beautiful skin.
Unlike Glycolic Acid and Alpha Hydroxy
peels, the OBAGI Blue Peel uses a
slow-acting TCA (trichloroacetic acid)
solution applied to the skin to remove dead
skin cells and stimulate the production of
new skin cells. Since TCA is not absorbed
through the skin, there are no internal
toxic effects. The slow action of the OBAGI
Blue Peel solution enables your surgeon to
control the peel process and its depth. It
tightens the skin, reduces wrinkling and
renews a more youthful appearance.
The Obagi Blue Peel is considered a "medium
depth" facial peel because it is stronger
than the popular Glycolic Acid Peel and
requires less recovery time than a full
Laser Resurfacing, therefore falling
in-between the two treatments with respect
to results and recovery time.
The Obagi skin care system can transform
your skin by improving the appearance of
blemishes, age spots, wrinkles, and scars.
This treatment can be tailored to fit the
requirements of your specific skin type,
exfoliating layers of dead skin cells to
reveal the healthy cells beneath. It can be
performed on the face as well as the neck,
arms, hands and legs. It promotes and
restores healthy skin and can remove many of
the sun damage spots and fine lines.
Depending upon the condition of your skin,
1-4 coats of the Obagi BLUE PEEL solution
will be applied. At each level, you will
experience a mild burning sensation that
lasts 2-3 minutes. The doctor may use an
electric fan to minimize this sensation. A
light bluish tint remains on your skin, but
it will wash off in 12 to 24 hours. Your
skin will begin to peel within 2 to 3 days
and should be healed in an average to 7 to
10 days. This peeling should not disrupt
your regular lifestyle.
When repeated over a period of time, the
Obagi Blue Peel can produce results equal to
those of a deeper peel while requiring less
recovery time - only seven to ten days. With
proper treatment, the skin’s natural
elasticity is restored, and fresh, healthy
skin is revealed. A stinging sensation may
be experienced, and a fan is usually set up
to help alleviate some of the discomfort.
TCA peels sometimes require two or more
treatments, spaced out over weeks or months,
to achieve the best results. Some patients
will require 2-3 treatments.
The Obagi Blue Peel can
help correct wrinkles, melasma, scars,
laxity, large pores, and non-facial skin
conditions.
The outcome of the Obagi Blue Peel is a
total rejuvenation of the skin.
Specifically, the peel reduces the amount of
lines and scars, removes damaged skin,
improves skin tone, and maintains healthy
skin.
