Face and Neck Rejuvenation

Not long ago, a facelift was considered by many to be reserved for movie stars and celebrities. Today a facelift, or rhytidectomy, is not just for the rich and famous. It is one of the most well accepted and most frequently performed cosmetic procedures in the United States. Recent studies have shown that being visually appealing has a direct correlation to higher pay. Today, Baby Boomers from every walk of life are electing to have facelifts for cosmetic as well as economic reasons.

If you have been considering a facelift to reverse the signs of aging, you should understand what a facelift can and can’t do. A facelift provides an overall lift to the lower third of your face by tightening loose skin in the jowls, neck, and jaw line. A facelift alone will not remove forehead wrinkles, crow’s feet or bags under your eyes. These areas can, however, be treated at the same time as your facelift.

During your initial consultation you will discuss with the surgeon, your particular condition, expectations, and the probable outcome of your various treatment options.

Eyelid Surgery

Sometimes, even after a great night’s sleep, it can be hard to feel alive and vibrant when you see those tired, drooping eyes looking back at you from the mirror. The loose skin over your eyes and the fat bags under your eyes make you look more tired and older than you feel inside.

If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone. Each year thousands of men and women choose eyelid surgery to help restore a more energetic, youthful, and natural appearance. Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, can correct sagging eyelids, remove fatty pouches beneath the eyes, and remove excess skin from the upper eyelids. Blepharoplasty can be done alone, or in conjunction with other facial surgery procedures such as a facelift, a brow lift, or laser skin resurfacing.

Hetter Resurfacing Procedure (Hetter Resurfacing Peel)

In the year 2000, Gregory Hetter, M.D. published a series of articles examining the ratio of the ingredients used in the 40 year old Baker-Gordon peel (also known as the phenol peel). Through a series of ingenious tests, combined with close and expert observation, he determined that the active ingredient within this peel formula was croton oil and not the phenol originally advocated. This revelation led to Dr. Hetter’s development of the Hetter Formulas, altering the concentrations of these vital ingredients in order to achieve optimal results with optimal safety.

Shortly after the publication of the articles, which revolutionized the art of skin resurfacing, Dr. Kass discussed the formulas with Dr. Hetter, gaining deeper insight into the solutions, and resolving any ambiguities found within the articles. Although some may refer to these solutions as modified croton oil peels, Dr. Kass prefers to use the term Hetter Resurfacing Procedure (HCP) in honor of the man who recognized the importance of croton oil and altered its concentrations in his formulas.

Dr. Kass has been performing the Hetter Resurfacing Procedure since shortly after the original articles were published. Without doubt, Dr. Kass is one of the most experienced physicians in the world with this technique.

In the hands of an expert such as Dr. Kass, the Hetter Resurfacing Procedure has produced transformative results for thousands of people who have come to the St. Petersburg & Clearwater, from near and far, to share in the wonders of this innovative technique.

According to Dr. Kass, no other procedure, resurfacing laser (fractional or otherwise), peel, or method of dermabrasion, can achieve the results that he can achieve with the Hetter Resurfacing Procedure. In the simplest terms, the Hetter Resurfacing Procedure achieves remarkable, permanent results which are unmatched by any other technique in use today. When compared to other, less effective methods, Hetter Peel results are achieved with decreased redness, and markedly reduced down time.

Facial Fillers

After years of squinting, laughing, frowning, smoking and worrying, the skin around the eyes, nose, mouth and on the forehead often develops deep lines and wrinkles. While genes play a part in the aging process, these types of wrinkles have been difficult to treat, until now. Expression lines may often make you look older, tired, or stressed.

Dermal fillers are a blanket term for a number of different products intended to add bulk or volume to areas that appear wrinkled or hollow, such as around the cheekbones. Fillers are recommended for application in certain areas of your face where volume is beneficial. This includes your lips, nasolabial folds (smile lines), and “marionette” lines (the lines near your lips that seem to turn down). Fillers range in types from temporary to semi-permanent and tend to be priced based on how long the filler lasts. Fillers are also used for lip augmentations.

Fillers are not to be confused with Botox, which is another injectable material that treats certain types of wrinkles. Botox is going to relax a muscle that is contracted, while fillers plump areas that once had volume or require it for cosmetic or reconstructive applications.

Botox is also used to treat migraines, blepharospasms, and hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating).

Dr. Kass carries out all the injections at my clinic himself. Injections are a procedure and should be conducted by the most experienced healthcare professional available. This ensures the best results possible.
