As we kick off the new year, you may be looking for new ways to give your skin a little TLC. As each year passes, your skin may be showing its age and can leave you feeling less than confident. Fortunately, our team here at Tampa Bay Cosmetic Surgery Center can offer just the solution to your skincare troubles. While you might have heard of laser skin resurfacing, we are proud to take treatment to the next level with deep facial resurfacing, or as we like to call it, the Hetter Resurfacing Procedure.
What is it?
The Hetter Resurfacing Procedure, also known as the Hetter Peel, can provide dramatic results to damaged skin. Whether you have fine lines and wrinkles, drooping eyelids, scarring, or a number of other skin imperfections you are wanting to correct, this treatment can help you reach your goals. The peel can accomplish all of the same results that any other peel can, except it is deeper and more powerful. It works by removing the outermost layers of the skin along with wrinkles and discoloration that are hard to remove with traditional, more conservative treatments.
The Procedure
Before beginning treatment, we will first do a patch test on a small portion of the skin. This can help ensure that there won’t be any surprises when it comes to how your skin will respond to the treatment. Depending on the area being treated, you may need to be put under anesthesia during the procedure.
Because the outermost layers of the skin will be removed, it is important to protect the procedure site. After the procedure, you will return to our office so that we can apply iodine to the affected areas to serve as a protective layer against any outside contaminants. Additionally, it is extremely important to protect your skin from the sun and harmful UV rays. Our staff will provide you with all the necessary information and supplies needed to best care for your skin post-procedure.
Results
After you have recovered from the procedure, your skin will quite literally be “as good as new.” Recovery times vary from patient to patient, but you can expect to have that new, glowing skin within 2-3 months following the procedure.
Dr. Kass is well educated in the technique used to perform the Hetter Peel, and is a founding member of the International Peeling Society.
