Aging is inevitable, and many of our patients come into our office searching for a solution to help make them look and feel younger. At Tampa Bay Cosmetic Surgery Center, we are proud to provide a variety of treatment options, and this month we want to highlight treatments that are ideal for improving the appearance of the face and neck.
Traditional Facelift
As people age, their skin may begin to sag and lose its elasticity in the lower portion of the face as well as the jawline. A facelift, technically known as a rhytidectomy, involves improving the appearance of the face and neck area and can be ideal in reducing signs of aging. Common concerns treated in a facelift include sagging facial skin, the increase of folds and wrinkles around the mouth and nose, layers of skin sagging underneath the chin that creates an effect known as “turkey neck,” and jowls.
Facelifts can also be combined with other procedures for overall enhancement of one’s face appearance. These additional procedures can include brow lifts or treatment of the eyelid area to remove the heavy bag look under the eyes or droopiness over them. Both procedures will make one’s eyes look more youthful. Along the same lines, filler or a fat transfer can be utilized to add volume again to areas where age has caused the loss of fatty volume, contributing to sagging. Additionally, skin treatments can also be applied for improved skin surface and texture.
The Weekend Lift and The S-Lift
Most patients do not require a full, traditional facelift to achieve the superb results they desire.
At Tampa Bay Cosmetic Surgery Center, We specialize in providing natural results, and we can do so in a quicker time frame with our “Weekend Lift” or an “S-Lift”. These procedures can achieve much of the same results as a regular facelift with shorter incisions and fewer sutures, minimizing the risk of scarring.
The difference between the Weekend Lift and the S-Lift is that the S-Lift is really designed to address problems of the jowl in patients aged 40-60 and offers only moderate neck tightening, whereas the Weekend Lift is designed to treat both problem areas in people of any age.
In many cases, an S-Lift is all that is necessary. However, patients with loose skin, fat, or unsightly bands in the neck may benefit most from a Weekend Lift. At the time of your consultation, Dr. Kass will be happy to discuss your skincare concerns and goals of treatment to determine which procedure would be best for you.
Recovery and Results
Patient recovery time can vary, but many patients are able to return to work in as little as 3 to 4 days following treatment.
Our patients continually report satisfaction with their results and can attest to the efficiency of these procedures. Our friendly and knowledgeable plastic surgeon will work with you to ensure you receive the results that you are looking for.
Other Considerations
Unfortunately, despite some of the great advancements in our field, these procedures do not stop the aging process and are not enough to fundamentally change how a person looks. It should be noted that your skin doesn’t show signs of aging simply due to time alone. Weather, diet, drinking alcohol, smoking, work environment, and one’s genetic background all contribute to how he or she will appear with age. Chronic stress can also be a big negative factor in general health and appearance as well.
Due to the complex nature of lift procedures, your treatment must be handled by a trained and licensed physician. We take pride in being your trusted provider and are happy to answer any questions you may have about your chosen procedure during a consultation.
